If you trade more than one prop firm on Tradovate, a trade copier saves you from entering every trade two or three times. Most copiers charge a monthly subscription, which adds up when you're already paying for evaluations. Here's how the popular paid copiers compare with Copy Trade for Tradovate, a free Chrome extension, including the things the paid tools do better.

Where the free copier wins

  • Price. No subscription, no trial clock, no per-account or per-connection fees.
  • Nothing extra to run. No desktop app, VPS or NinjaTrader. It runs inside the Tradovate web trader you already use, with your own charts, DOM, hotkeys and ATM brackets.
  • Across prop firms. Open each firm's Tradovate login in its own Chrome tab: one leads, the others follow. Brackets, stop and target moves, cancels and flattens are copied.
  • Different contract per follower. For example, lead on MNQ and follow on NQ (how).
  • Your login stays in your browser. You don't hand your Tradovate credentials to a third-party server.

Where paid copiers are ahead

  • Live (real-money) accounts. The free extension copies live only on Tradovate demo sessions for now, which includes simulation and most prop firm evaluation accounts.
  • Prop firms' approved lists. Take Profit Trader and Elite Trader Funding only allow copiers from an approved list. Those lists include Tradesyncer, TradeCopia, Affordable Indicators and the compliance editions of Replikanto and Flowbot, plus Tradovate's own tools. Copy Trade for Tradovate isn't on them. See every firm's copy rules.
  • Built-in risk tools. Several paid copiers add daily loss limits, session lockouts or drawdown kill switches. The free extension has a per-entry contract cap and a one-click Emergency Kill.
  • Other platforms and order sources. Paid copiers connect NinjaTrader, Rithmic, TradingView webhooks and more. The free extension copies trades placed in the Tradovate web trader.
  • Two accounts in one login. The extension needs the leader and follower in different logins. Inside one firm, Tradovate's own Group Trade covers that.

Which should you pick?

  • Evaluations and sim-funded accounts at firms that allow third-party copiers (for example Lucid or MyFundedFutures): start with the free extension, since there's nothing to lose.
  • A firm that only allows approved copiers (Take Profit Trader, Elite Trader Funding): use one from its list, or Tradovate's Group Trade within that firm.
  • Live accounts, NinjaTrader or TradingView automation: a paid copier fits better today.
