Prop Firm Copy Trading Rules (2026)
Copying trades between your prop firm accounts can save hours, or get every account closed. Here are the copy trading rules of the major Tradovate futures prop firms, side by side, taken from each firm's own help center.
Checked October 16, 2026. Firms change their rules often, so confirm on the firm's own page (linked below) before you trade.

The two rules every firm enforces
- No hedging across accounts. Being long on one account and short on another, in the same or a correlated product, gets accounts closed at every firm. When you copy, every account must trade the same direction.
- Your accounts only. Firms allow copying between accounts you own. Copying someone else's trades into your account, or letting others copy yours, is banned at most firms even when the software supports it.
Firm by firm
Apex Trader Funding
Apex allows copying across Performance Accounts under your own personal and business name. The hedging rule still applies, so all accounts must trade in the same direction. Copying with other traders is forbidden. Apex documents the Tradovate group trade copier for accounts inside one login.
Apex's prohibited activities list also says there is no automation or algorithm usage allowed, so keep your trades hand-placed and only copy what you trade yourself.

Lucid Trading
Lucid's help center says automated trading systems and trade copiers are permitted, as long as all automated activity follows Lucid's rules. It doesn't add specific wording about copying between your own accounts. You can hold up to 5 active funded accounts per household.

Take Profit Trader
Take Profit Trader permits trade copiers solely for managing accounts you own and control, and only from its approved list: Tradesyncer, TradeCopia, Affordable Indicators, Replikanto and Flowbot (compliance editions), and platform-native copier tools such as Tradovate's. Counter positions are prohibited, and all trades must be manually executed by the trader, so no bots or algos. The policy was updated October 9, 2026.

Tradeify
Tradeify lets you group trade between accounts you own and manage. Copying other strategies or copy trading with others is not permitted. Holding the same or a correlated product in opposite directions at the same time counts as prohibited hedging. Third-party trade copiers are used at your own risk.

MyFundedFutures
MyFundedFutures allows copy trading across all account types. Tradovate users can use the built-in group copier, and external copy trading solutions can also be used. Traders are not permitted to copy one another.

Elite Trader Funding
Elite Trader Funding permits trade copiers from approved partners only, and says unauthorized use puts your account and profits at risk. The approved list includes Tradesyncer, Tradecopia, Affordable Indicators, Replikanto and Flowbot (compliance editions), and platform built-in features such as Tradovate group trading.

Topstep
Topstep no longer offers Tradovate. Its help center says TopstepX is the only available trading platform, and TopstepX has its own built-in trade copier for Trading Combine and Express Funded accounts.
Copying across firms on Tradovate
Tradovate's built-in group trading only reaches accounts inside one login, and each prop firm gives you a separate login. To copy from one firm to another you need a copier that works across logins. Our free Copy Trade for Tradovate extension does this in Chrome. Check the firm's rules above first: at firms that only allow approved copiers, use one from their list.
